On 05 June 2023 European Migration Network (EMN) organized an educational workshop for students from the Leaf Academy, international boarding high school in Bratislava. Students pursued their interest in learning more about migration as a part of their ‘experiential curriculum’. The representatives of International Organization for Migration (IOM) within the activities of the EMN in Slovakia introduced the topic of migration followed by a role-playing activity Destination Europe.

The students eagerly participated in the introductory presentation where they deepened their knowledge of facts and figures on migration in both Slovakia and the world. After the initial presentation, young people enthusiastically immersed themselves into discussions regarding migration policy decisions-making and observed the impacts of their decisions within the educational activity Destination Europe.nBoth teachers and students highly appreciated the discussions: “It is so important to encourage young people to discuss migration issues and this activity is a great tool that illustrates how decisions are made on different levels: the EU, their country and their city.”nDestination Europe is an educational tool on migration and integration that encourages young people (16+) and professionals to dive deep into debates and learn more about contemporary issues in today's Europe. During the engaging discussions, young people can take up roles of different migration stakeholders and explore the narratives of three specific migrants.nEMN Slovakia organizes workshops on the topic of migration as part of which students can try the educational activity Destination Europe. The workshop is divided into two sessions of 1,5 hours each, but the duration can also be adjusted according to the needs of a school or class. The workshops are free of charge.
